Jefferson County Public Library (JCPL) today announced the public availability of thousands of movies, television shows, music albums and audiobooks, all available for mobile and online access through a new partnership with hoopla digital (hoopladigital.com).

As of Dec. 22, library cardholders can download the free hoopla digital mobile app on Android or Apple iOS 6.0+ devices or sign into hoopladigital.com to begin enjoying thousands of titles – from major Hollywood studios, record companies and publishers – available to borrow for instant streaming or temporary downloading to their smartphones, tablets, computers and Apple TV.

“At JCPL, we’re committed to offering varied media and professional channels that align with the needs of our patrons,” said Donna Walker, public services director for JCPL. “With hoopla digital, our patrons only need a library card to access dynamic content on the hoopla app or web site – free of charge. This new service provides a huge selection of materials, no waiting period for popular titles, and an automatic return feature that eliminates all late fees.”

Patrons can borrow up to 10 hoopla items per month. Movies and TV series may be checked out for three days, music cds for seven days and audiobooks for 21 days. Patrons can get started by visiting jeffcolibrary.org/downloads. Content from hoopla is rated for ages 12 and older, so parents are advised to monitor use by minors. In addition, due to bandwidth constraints, content can only be downloaded to devices outside of the library.

“We think of this as a holiday gift to our patrons,” Walker continued. “It’s a great 21st-century library service, and we’re happy to be offering it in Jefferson County.”

Jefferson County Public Library is the eleventh library system in the state of Colorado to partner with hoopla digital. Current partners include Pueblo City-County Library District, AnyThink Libraries, Pikes Peak Library District, Town of Vail Public Library and others.

“With hoopla digital, it is our mission to help public libraries meet the needs of the mobile generation. We’ve worked for years to create a best-in-breed service that is fun, fast and reliable. And we continue to secure content deals to expand the offering of movies, TV shows, music and audiobooks,” said Jeff Jankowski, founder and owner of hoopla digital.
